Peter David Jones, is an accomplished business strategist and businessman. The 54 year old, born March 18th 1966, is a well known reality TV personality and British entrepreneur, as well as an author. He has interests in property, retail, leisure, media, television and mobile phones.

Peter Jones is most known for his entrepreneurial skills and entrepreneurial book. His most popular book is Tycoon published in 2008. In 2009, he was awarded a CBE and is on the rich list for the Sunday Times.

Peter Jones Personal History

Jones spent his childhood in Maidenhead and went to Desborough School and then The Windsor Boys school. He has Russian and English descent. Peter and Caroline, his first wife separated, he had two children with Caroline; William and Annabelle. In addition, he has a great interest in cars, his first being an Alfa Romeo, he now owns many luxury and classic sports cars.

Peter Jones Professional Career

Peter created a business at 16 making personal computers through his very own brand. Although when he sold the business to IBM, he lost around £200,000. When he was in his 20s this business failed slightly and he had to move back home with his parents, then he joined a technology company.

When he was in his twenties, in Windsor he set up a cocktail bar, which was based in a film with Tom Cruise. In 2005, Jones and Theo Paphitis from Dragons Den bought a company that specialises in gift experiences called Red Letter Days. Throughout Jones’ career he has founded several businesses including Celsius, a recruitment business and Wines4Business.com, a champagne and wine retailer.

On his website it states he has made several business investments through Dragons Den including; Synthetic Genomics, Wonderland Magazine, Concentrate Design and iTeddy. In addition, he has his own business for TV production named Peter Jones TV, he also has many property investments. In 2013, he became the chief executive and owner of Jessops within the UK.

Peter Jones is the original last remaining dragon on Dragons Den on the BBC. Other TV appearances include; Hustle, Celebrity Juice on ITV2, Nevermind the Buzzcocks, The Magicians, TopGear and World Cup Live by James Corden.
Peter has also written books, he published Tycoon in 2008. This book offers a personal insight relating to Peter and the skills and qualities needed to become a successful entrepreneur. To turn initial ideas into a successful business, he has ten key rules to provide crucial building blocks. The book highlights how to test ideas and create a project’s momentum and boost enthusiasm to investors relating to your ideas. As well as having the courage in risking failure in order to pursue your vision and make it a reality. It is an inspiring book that guides individuals into thinking like millionaires and then becoming one.

Success, From Pitch to Profit was published in 2007. This book is full of advice for people wanting to make money, develop ideas or improve pitching skills. It looks back onto previous Dragons Den series and teaches readers to reach their maximum potential. This is a great business read incorporating personal experiences, tactics and advice from their business ventures.

Peter Jones Teaching and Events

The Peter Jones Foundation was set up in 2005, offering support to children, they do this through unique education initiatives. The main focus of this foundation is to promote enterprise through training, education and creating the correct skills now so that young people can become future entrepreneurs. The main aims are;

  • Support: give support to the younger generation around the United Kingdom who have different circumstances and are in different stages of life
  • Encourage: excite and encourage entrepreneurs to follow their dreams in business and promote an enterprise culture in Britain.
  • Educate: offering training and education through the programme to achieve a change and access entrepreneur and enterprise skills.

This programme had many campuses across the country including; Oxford, Southend, Manchester, Sheffield and Amersham.

In addition, the academy offers a level 3 BTEC entrepreneurship and enterprise course in Rugby and Leamington campuses.

Peter also does fundraising through enterprise challenges, such as sporting events like clay shooting and golf. The money raised goes towards the Peter Jones Foundation, which helps to support their work.
